Gainsbridge, UK — A well-known independent journalist has been reported missing under suspicious circumstances, prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities.
Marcel Linde, 38, a freelance investigative reporter known for his work on environmental anomalies and classified transmissions, was last seen on March 12, his birthday. His apartment on Baker Row was discovered forcibly entered late Friday evening after his sister, Helena Linde, arrived for a planned dinner and found the door ajar.
“The place was destroyed,” she told The Evening Report. “His notes were scattered, drawers emptied, and his main computer was gone — not just missing, I mean surgically removed. Even his backup drives were wiped or magnet-burned.”
Authorities have confirmed that no signs of struggle were found, but "deliberate and targeted tampering" is suspected.
“This was not a robbery,” said Detective Inspector Gareth Rhoads. “Nothing of value was taken except storage devices and written material. Someone knew exactly what they were looking for.”
According to a source close to the investigation, Linde had recently contacted international colleagues with claims of “unusual electromagnetic activity” linked to a frequency spike at 8843 kHz, and had referenced a so-called ‘Echo Node’ in encrypted emails. The same source suggested Linde believed he was being monitored in the days before his disappearance.
“He said it was like the signal was listening back,” she said. “Like it was alive.”
Authorities have not confirmed if any of Linde’s reporting played a role in his disappearance. He had previously investigated remote military installations, unauthorized weather experiments, and secret radio transmissions in the North Sea.
Linde remains missing, and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Gainsbridge constabulary. His colleagues in the independent press have begun archiving his published works — and some unreleased research files that reportedly survived in cloud storage.
